Welcome to 2022-23

From The Desk of the Director

Welcome to September PSCCN community,

This month marks one year since beginning this role as director, and what a year it has been!

As I look back on the year, I am so grateful to each of you for remaining connected to our shared vision to support our students, educators, and education community in the journey towards postsecondary credential completion for our young people. Like many of you, our team has navigated our work through many unknown surprises since the pandemic. However, having each of you as colleagues remains a welcome constant. Our team has been alongside you all in responding to and supporting our students in our communities every day.

A significant accomplishment to date, I have had the opportunity to launch King County Promise. Here are a few other recognitions and updates:

  1. Thank you to all our partners who helped shape KCP. We could not have put together the program without the collective expertise of the work being done with communities in the region.
  2. Congratulations to the Phase 1 KCP partners. We have two partnerships. First, the Highline Promise: Highline College, Highline Public Schools, Southwest Youth and Integration Network (BAM program), Northwest Education Access; and second, Promise to Communities: Renton Technical College, Centro Rendu, Congolese Integration Network, Northwest Education Access. We appreciate all the work their leaders have done over the summer, getting their programs off to a strong start this Fall.
  3. Later in the Fall, PSCCN will share our vision/programming for the year with King County Promise, PSCCN convenings, trainings, and more.
  4. We are expanding our team! Please check out https://www.psesd.org/careers/jobs for open positions, including:
    • PSCCN Director of Strategic Development (Posted)
    • PSCCN Director of Postsecondary Programs (Upcoming)
    • PSCCN Postsecondary Manager (Upcoming)

It's a pleasure to join each of you at the start of this year. We wish you all the best, whether you are setting up your classrooms or still negotiating what the beginning of your year will look like.

As we start another school year, I'm looking forward to reconnecting with many of you, hiring a few more great people to round up this team, and continuing to engage in our shared work across the region.

In partnership,

Mercy
